The church is very plain but has beautiful stained-glass windows. The wood structure reminded me of days at camp...don't forget to look up at the stained-glass around the roof. The cottages around the park are not to be missed. They were my favorite part.

Nothing was going on in the tabernacle while we were there, but we went in and sat down there to rest after walking quite a bit and it was very relaxing. We would like to come back when there is a function there.

What a beautiful place to stop and meditate. It was a quiet and airy surrounded by beautiful little cottages and lovely flowers that were blooming everywhere.

The Tabernacle is an open air structure not far from Circuit Ave. It is the heart of the Cottage Community. Quite an impressive structure and well worth the short walk away from the t-shirt shops.

It is fun to walk before dinner when people are setting up the lanterns. We always cut through to get to circut ave to go to dinner.

If you haven't visited the Park, you've missed a treat. Quaint Victorian houses, brightly painted, surrounding a central tabernacle. No to houses are alike, and most are lovingly kept up. Fabulous photo ops.

The gingerbread cottages surrounding this tabernacle are breathtaking. My dream would be to retire in one of these cottages. Great place for a picnic, jog, or rent a house if you can.

Check out the stain glass windows, the open air structure, the community of gingerbread cottages, might be lucky to chance upon an event, service or recital there. Something very unique

The tabernacle is amidst the gingerbread cottages. Worth a visit to experience living history. There are services and concerts in the summer.

The tabernacle is shaped like a very large, beautiful, solid, 'tent-revival' open air type building with wooden seats arranged in a semi- circle, facing a stage; wonderful stained glass windows surrounds the upper walls. Victorian-era wooden cottages are around the park-like area, painted in an assortment of gingerbread house-like colors. When you visit, take time to speak to the people who live near the tabernacle about their homes ' heritage and the tabernacle.

This is the place to be Wednesday nights to sing every song you grew up with. Also to be on the third Wednesday in August for the Grand Illumination. It is a special evening with the hundreds of lighted Japanese lanterns lit on all the cottages.

One of my long time friends owns a "gingerbread" cottage in the campground. The historic tabernacle and campground is worth taking the time to stroll through and check out the Victorian architecture. The Grand Illumination takes place on 8/20/14 at 7:30 pm. This is when most of the cottages have their houses decorated with brightly colored lanterns that are lit up for all to see. The Tabernacle and campground are just off Circuit Avenue behind the stores. Sunday services are held at 9:30 am at the Tabernacle. If you are interested in the history behind the tabernacle, go to www.mvcma.org/ and click on the history tab.

We stumbled into this community completely by accident and gave ourselves a walking tour of the cottages. Many of the cottages were painted in technicolor. almost all were well maintained. It was a nice change of pace from the gift shops to wander through this lovely community and admire the gardens and tiny houses. It is closed off to cars which are the bane of the island as far as I am concerned. As a bonus we heard a man playing a wonderful classical piano piece in the ampitheatre itself. I can just imagine what a concert or play would sound like there.
