On one hand I really enjoyed them making the red hots (even bought a 16 oz container). However, the prices are pretty high. My brother and I spent about $42 there on candy and really didn't buy all that much. One thing we hated and I even said it there was that many of their candies in the bags were not labeled. My brother bought what he thought were (Whoppers) instead we got home and they were chocolate covered coffee beans. There was nothing on the bag saying what it was nor the shelf in which he got them from had no information either.

We had to go inside when we smelled the cinnamon candy being made. Lots of people gathered at the window to watch the candy being made by had the same way for more than a century. Educational and free samples! We also bought some to enjoy for later on. There were people having lunch at the counter while others browsed thru the candy shop!

Going to Schimpffs is a wonderful experience. Watching the owners and staff making candy is a delight. Be sure to try the soda bar, I love the chocolate sodas, just like the ones from 50 years ago. The candy is exceptional, my favorite are the turtles, no the maple creams, no the amaretto, no...lol all of them,

A small shop with lots of heart. Great cinnamon candy that you are able to see made and then try and if you wish, buy. The family owners work together to put on a performance that makes the stop worth it beyond the wonderful tasting candy.

My partner and I had a pleasant visit earlier this month. We walked past the window and watched a worker hand dipped chocolates. Stepping inside we got to watch two workers making grape candy fish. The shop itself sold all types of candy made in store. You could have lunch and a milkshake. It was a very lovely experience. A must see if you are in the area.

I visited the store for my birthday last year. I had always wanted to visit this store and I found a weekend to do it. It was awesome, some of the best candy I have ever eaten! I also got a great ice cream float, strawberry soda with strawberry ice cream. Yummy! We went on a Saturday and the shop closes pretty early, so I had to get up and get going since I live a few hours away outside of Indianapolis. I enjoyed my visit and I am looking forward to the next!

We stopped in for a shake and a bite to eat. We did not take a tour & did not buy or eat candy.1. Employees: very friendly2. Bathroom: Women's; very clean and neat3. Ice Cream Shake: Very tall glass and my daughter loved it. Price approx $3.504. Egg Salad Sandwich & pulled pork sandwich: The sandwiches were overpriced for the sizes. The Egg Salad, approx. $3.75, had a thin layer on regular size sandwich bread; Biting into it resulted in more bread flavor than Egg Salad. The pulled pork was on a simple white bun and priced at approx $4.25. My daughter said it was good but appeared to me to be slightly overpriced for the size. Incidentally, bottle of cold water: inexpensive 75 cents. IN CONCLUSION: In the future, I will not eat food at Schimpff's due to the pricing/portions, but will sit down for a delicious ice cream. On another note, though I didn't purchase their Cinnamon Red Hots at this time, those candies are wonderful and well worth a try by lovers of red hots.

We stopped by and were welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Schimpff. They were so nice to us and showed my family how to make the candy drops... Great time and a must stop if your in town.

What a delightful place to visit! After my initial trip with a friend in March, I have added Schimpff's to my list of must-visit places for family and friends. When we were there in March, we were treated to the full-scale tour that started outside and covered the history of the building. On a July visit with my granddaughter, we started the tour inside, which encompasses the majority of the tour. The owners provide a narrated candy-making experience that is absolutely delightful! On my first visit, we watched (and then sampled) grape flavored candy being made; on the second, cinnamon red hots! The shop has a museum, candy shop and deli-cafe. Don't miss this place!

My favorite thing to do with my grandchildren is dress up in a mask and put on white gloves and loads of bats and horns then come to your candy store and blow the horns for music. then we buys lots of sugar free candy wich has a very big laxative effect. (exspectialy on my grandchildren).

I love this place. The owners are so nice and you can tell the love making quality candy. They do candy demonstrations and at the end you get to sample the candy. The hard candy and the chocolate candies are awesome.

This is a cute shop with a candy museum that documents and demonstrates over a hundred years of candy making. There were plenty of candy to purchase as well as an ice cream shop. Worth a visit.

This milkshake bought all the girls to the yard for me! Haha, a pineapple milkshake that was the highlight of my trip!

This place is great. I feel I have gone back in time. You have to try the red hots. Love the idea of hearts for valentine's day. We stop every time we get to Jeff.

Schmipffs is a family-owned and operated candy store, candy museum and soda fountain. You can watch the employees "sign" the different types of chocolates in the window by the way they swirl the tail of the chocolate as they are hand dipped. I was just in there and needed a half-pound of chocolate fudge without nuts and the owner offered to make it up for me if I could wait about 30 minutes. You'll find homemade chocolates, old-fashioned candies, sugar free candies, friendly, knowledgeable employees, a candy museum and an old-fashioned soda fountain. The owners are always on hand and ever so kind. Street parking is free and the location is just north of Louisville.
